Tiki Weekend Hi-Tea, Kontiki, The Federal Kuala Lumpur

Kontiki Restaurant is back in action since 15th July 2020! They have been catering for takeaway only during MCO and now we can dine in as well!

Their current aim is to "Restart together with safety". As it suggests, they did a lot of changes according to the current SOP in order to make sure we are safe and sound.

I went to Kontikki to try out their Tiki Weekend Hi-Tea. Oh my, I was spoilt by the amount of food choice they have. It was a buffet Hi-Tea so what do you want? You get it.

There are 5 menus to rotate on different days so they can satisfy diverse palates. They also serve over 100 varieties to diners to choose from along with unlimited refill!

Before I talk about the food, let's go a little into their SOP. What buffet? How to manage SOP then? Wondering about it too? Well, I think everybody would have been concerned about it.

Don't worry! Kontiki had it handled. They installed a glass slide to every corner where the food is served so we don't have direct access to the food. Yes, we won't be able to take the food like how the usual buffet works.

The chef and the assistant chef will be at every station and serve us throughout. Only they have access to food. You just have to show them which food you want and they will serve you.

They have reduced the number of tables in order to maintain social distancing norms. Their Service Personnel will be wearing protective gear as required by the local health guidelines.

Obviously, before you even enter the Restaurant, they will sure that you have scanned the QR code, register yourself and sanitize.

Another thing that pulled my attention was they had a few carts full of food that travels around us while we eat so we can choose what we want and they will serve us. I found it to be a good move and yes, who wouldn't love food coming to us?

Now it's all about FOOD!

I ATE A LOT!

Well, that's what buffet is about right? To eat 4 days of food at a time because the food supply is unlimited!! I first started off with sushi because it is my absolute favourite. I like how they served the sushi in small portion so we can actually eat more. LOL!

My personal must-try is the Roasted Lamb with mustard dijon and served with mustard cream sauce. They also serve the Satay, Tauhu Bakar,  Dim Sum and Yong Tau Foo.

I really love the amount of varieties they have. I tried a little from most of the dishes so I can eat all the food I love generally.

The roasted lamb was well roasted and the sauce was so good that I went for second round.

When it comes to the Noodles and Rice Station they serve Prawn Mee with condiments and Chicken Rice Stall. At the Action Station & on Ice, they served assorted sushi and half Shell NZ Mussel and Tiger Prawn.

I liked how the Mussel and Tiger Prawn was so fresh and the prawn tasted so sweet. The sauce they served for it also suited well.

At Salad and Appetizers, they serve lots of types which includes Western and Chinese Cold Cuts, Salad, Rojak Buah. Gado- Gado with Sauce, Kerabu and Ulam.

The satay is a must-try as it is tender and juicy and also the sauce is really really delicious. I am very picky about my satay sauce so believe me when I say it is delicious. LOL!

They also have other stations like sandwiches station, Soup Station, Vegetarian and Vegan corner, Sweets and Desserts.

They also serve hot dishes like Fried Rice with Seafood, Mee Siam, Squid cooked with Capsicum and Onion, Chicken Varuval, Mutton Stewed with vegetables, Ikan Masak Kicap Berempah and a lot more.

The mutton stew was very tender and yummy! I paired it with the mee hoon along with the Ikan Masak Kicap. The squid is also a must-try!

What I love most about Kontiki is the service is too good. You always get whatever you from them. They are always around so you can reach them easily. they also make sure our done plates are taken away so we can place more plates at our place. LOL!
